Maki Named Volunteer of the Year

Hermantown, MN – The Hermantown Area Chamber of Commerce has announced its 2017 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient.

Michelle Maki was named as the 2017 Volunteer of the Year. Maki, a Mary Kay Independent Sales Director, is a Board Member and an Ambassador for the Hermantown Area Chamber as well as serves in her community as a member of the Twin Ports Mothers of Multiples and as a member of the Duluth Area Professionals Chapter of BNI.

Maki has played a huge role in making sure the chamber was continually moving forward and growing this past year in many ways. Maki celebrates and honors businesses in the community by attending ribbon cutting events.  Maki is also always looking for ways to reach out to new businesses and members during Business After Hours and Monthly Luncheon events, making sure to reach out to them and make everyone feel welcomed.

Maki is constantly aware of the chamber’s mission to promote the business community and enhance opportunities for success, earlier this year creating a plan for the chamber’s Ambassador Group to engage more of the chamber’s membership base. Maki continually goes above and beyond to help the chamber wherever needed.

National Bank of Commerce sponsored the Volunteer of the Year Award. As a part of their sponsorship, National Bank of Commerce will make a $500 donation in the recipient’s name to a local charity of her choice. Maki has chosen the donation to be gifted to the Essentia Health Foundation, to help provide gifts and necessities during the Holidays to families of cancer patients. The Volunteer of the Year Award started in 2007 to recognize an individual for their service to the chamber.
