Whether you prefer summer or winter, Hermantown has activities to enjoy any season! The baseball program starts with Hermantown Little League that includes t-ball, VFW and Legion teams for children 5 –18. The Ugstad Road Recreation Complex provides the fields for most of the games. The Hermantown Girl's Softball Association is very active providing opportunities to area girls and playing most games at Rose Rose Field. Hermantown Youth Soccer Association offers a growing program of over 600 participants from ages 4 – 19 that play on one of many fields in Stebner Park.

In the winter, the Hermantown Area Hockey Association offers a long established program to boys and girls ages 4 – 15. This great program provides state-of-the-art hockey facilities that include a indoor hockey arena, four outdoor rinks, a recreational rink and a warming house. There is also a Hermantown Youth Boy and Girl Basketball program along with Tennis.

The area's trails provide beautiful scenes to hikers, cross-country skiers, ATV drivers and snowmobilers. The Hermantown Community Schools offers a trail system on campus and features an outdoor classroom behind the elementary school. There are many area lakes that provide successful fishing opportunities or pleasant boat rides. If golf is your sport, some of offerings in the surrounding area are Enger Park Golf Course, Pike Lake Golf Course, Lester Park Golf Course and Grandview Golf Club. Cross Country Ski Trails flow through Hermantown and the surrounding area with additional opportunities at Hartley Nature Center, Snowflake Nordic Cross Country Center and Spirit Mountain which offers cross country and downhill skiing.
